A brief history:

Pokerville was first founded in 1828 by Ebenezer Brigham, an English prospector searching for locations to mine for lead and metals. As a matter of fact, Pokerville got its name because of the activities that drew folks to the settlement over the years. You may have guessed right... cards, brothels and booze. By 1850, Pokerville had become a thriving community. The citizenship included blacksmiths, bakers, carpenters, mason, tanners, farmers, and merchandisers. There was an opera house, several taverns, churches, stores, and even a fort built by volunteers in the community. In 1881, the Great Northern Railway took a turn away from Pokerville and located a depot in Blue Mounds. As a result, and with wonder, several buildings in Pokerville were uprooted and moved .5 miles up a dirt road to be closer to the depot, and the Pokerville General Store was one of those buildings.

Our family is grateful to have the opportunity to restore and resurrect a part of our community's legacy by ensuring that one of the oldest store buildings in the Midwest stays open as a General Store. Pokerville General Store is family-owned and operated. Our family also preserves the past by restoring historic stained glass and historic wooden windows. To further this we hold art classes introducing students to arts & crafts, including stained glass and candle making.

NORTHERN HISTORIC, ART & RESTORATION has been restoring windows in Southern Wisconsin since 2010.
